English: This Webb model was submitted by Helene Mehner. Helene says, "I am 15 years old and in the 10th grade of school (in Germany). Therefore, I was supposed to write an extended essay (for admission to the final exams) about a self-selected topic. So, I decided to write mine about the James Webb Space Telescope because I am
fascinated by astronomy and astrophysics. Because of that, I built a model on a scale of 1:17 by using the blueprints on the NASA-Website (November 2022- February 2023). Furthermore, I managed that the model can be folded up completely, just like the real telescope, thanks to many magnets, hinges and two small telescopic pointers (for extending and retracting the left and right sides of the sunshield). In the meantime, I have finished my whole essay. Due to this, I want to show you what my model looks like in the pictures below."
